ASP travel and research grants are available for UC Berkeley graduate and undergraduate students, whose research relates to Armenian Studies. Small grants are awarded on a competitive basis to support students for short-term research or to attend conferences to present scholarly papers. Students must be in good academic standing and be enrolled through the entire travel period.
The maximum award is $1,000 for overseas travel or $500 for travel in the U.S. Grant awards are made based on the scholarly merit of the applications. Application materials should be emailed in PDF format to armenian@berkeley.edu.
Applications should include:
- One-page proposal, describing the project and its relevance to the applicant’s academic work. Proposals for conference presentations, should provide an abstract and information about the conference (i.e., conference program or letter of acceptance to the conference).
- Budget (include total cost of project, and additional funding available to the student)
- Resume/CV
- Graduate students should provide their name and e-mail address, department and advisor, date of entry into the graduate program and candidacy status and the topic and status of dissertation research. A letter from a faculty advisor in support of the research project or their participation in the conference
- Undergraduates should provide their name and e-mail address, major (if declared), expected graduation date, and their transcript.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis; however, students are expected to submit their applications at least one month prior to their conference or research trip. Applicants will be notified of ASP’s decision two weeks after submitting their application.
Grant recipients will be asked to submit a short description of their research or conference trip after their return.
