Joh Klopotowski   

John Klopotowski is a doctoral student in the Department of History, where he studies the economic and political pressures facing minority-run periodicals and newspapers in the late Ottoman Empire and early Turkish Republic. He previously earned a master’s degree from Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, where his research focused on minority press freedom in Istanbul and the city’s last remaining Armenian-Turkish newspaper, Agos. His writing has appeared in Liberties Journal, Mondoweiss, and New Lines Magazine, among other outlets.
